Effective April 1st of 2021, the state of Washington will implement a stewardship program that will include a new paint fee to help with recycling services. Johnsons Home & Garden will be complying with this mandate but will NOT be available as a drop-off center.
The environmental fee is based on the container size and are as follows:
- Half Pint or Smaller: $0.00
- Quart: $0.45
- Gallon: $0.95
- 5 Gallon: $1.95
When you purchase paint from our store, your receipt will explain and provide the website (below) which you may go to for more information.
The main goal of this new program is to decrease paint waste and recycle more post-consumer paint by setting up convenient drop-off sites. Our store will NOT be a drop off center. You may dispose of any unwanted paint for recycling and you will not be charged with any additional fees. These drop-off sites will be available to households, businesses, government agencies, and others with leftover paint in Washington. Drop-off sites will accept the following: House Paint & Primer, Stains, Deck & Concrete Sealers and Clear Finishes.
